A busy weekend is upon us, O God, and there is excitement in the air. Thank you for the wonderful variety that life brings; for family and friends who share in our laughter and joy; for the ability to enjoy fall weather and outdoor activities; and for the power of your love which overwhelms us. May we be sensitive to those around us who don’t share our joy. May we find ways, Creator God, to open our hearts to them, to befriend them, and, through Jesus the Christ, bring them hope. It is in Jesus name we pray, AMEN.

Congratulations to Loretta Drennan Richey on being a new grandmother. Her daughter Penny is the proud mother.
Tomorrow is the beginning of the Pony Express Run and expectations are high. All Pony Express leaders, Trail Bosses and Station Agents are encouraged to attend a “Kick Off” breakfast at 7:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
Congratulations to Butch Phillips. We will have a Commissioning Service for Butch in the Sanctuary at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon to honor Butch for his successful completion of the Licensed Minister Training Program through the Christian Church in Oklahoma. All are invited. There will be a reception following in the Fellowship Hall.
I received the following email from Tary Davis Johnson about a fun and worthwhile event. Mixed Company will have a major part in this program. I don’t normally “plug” non-church events in these emails, but this one is well worth the publicity:
