Dear God,
We come to you in humble prayer. Thank you for the rain that clears the air and refreshes the earth. Thank you for the life affirming presence of your Holy Spirit with us that refreshes our souls. Forgive us, we pray, when we build barriers between ourselves and you, barriers that harden our hearts and stiffen our necks. May your grace release us from the bondage of our self-centeredness. May we see your love around us each day, even in the rain that clears the air and refreshes the earth. In Jesus name, AMEN.

The Phillips University Legacy Foundation Scholars are with us. Their first session was last night with a welcome, wonderful meal, and icebreaker activities. Remember Sunday is Phillips University Day. We will have a combined Revive and Renew and Traditional service in the sanctuary at 10:15 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins preaching. Afterward we will host our scholars and guests at a “covered dish” fellowship luncheon. Remember to bring a dessert or salad.
Denny Krick is at Bass Hospital. He was admitted yesterday morning. Barb Newton is in ICU at St. Mary’s. She was admitted yesterday as well. Please pray for Denny and Barbara.
We received the following email from Cheryl Sargeant:
“Just a note - Tom Sargeant had surgery in Sept. for prostate cancer, and is doing very well. His last tests indicated that there is no more cancer. We hope he will stay in remission. Cheryl Sargeant”
We celebrate Tom’s good news. Please continue to pray for Cheryl and Tom.
Grace and peace,
John McLemore
