Ever-present God,
We humbly come to you in prayer. On the day our culture calls “Black Friday” there is great pressure to be drawn into the mad consumer rush toward Christmas. Give us strength and clarity, O Lord. May our journey these next four weeks include patience and restraint. May our prime focus be one of physical and spiritual preparation, once again remembering and reflecting on what it means to say “God is with us”. In Jesus name, AMEN.

This is the first weekend of Advent. We will light Advent candles during our services of worship. Sunday a number of our members will gather in the parlor at 6:00 p.m. for a Service of Remembrance and Hope. At 7:00 p.m. we will enjoy our annual Hanging of the Greens and then participate in the Tasting Party in the Fellowship Hall where each Sunday School class shares their favorite holiday treats.
This is a great weekend for people to “Come Home to Central for the Holidays”. Invite and bring your family and friends. Call a church member you haven’t seen in a while. While this is a hectic time of year, it is also a time of great wonder and hope. May we share the hope.
Grace and peace,
John McLemore
