Prayer for Today, Sunday, November 28

O Love That will Not Let Us Go,

On this first Sunday of Advent we reflect on Hope, the Hope that came into the world through the birth of Your son, Jesus Christ, and the Hope that comes into the world today through Your Holy Spirit. O God, may we be a people of hope. Forgive us when we become so enthralled with the trinkets and passions of the world that we fail to trust in you. When there is emptiness and despair around us may we be hopeful and agents for love and goodness. Bless us we pray, as we begin our journey through Advent. May we prepares our hearts, once again, to celebrate the birth of Hope in the world. In Jesus name, AMEN.

Please pray for Gene Brintnall. He goes to the Mayo Clinic for surgery this week.

Please pray for Barbara Whinery and her family. Barbara has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will likely have surgery this Thursday.

Don’t forget our 6:00 p.m. Service of Remembrance and Hope in the Parlor for those who are grieving. Also plan to attend the Hanging of the Greens at 7:00 p.m. and the Tasting Party afterward.

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
