Prayer for Today, Thursday, November 18

O God,

There are days when we feel like praying and there are days when we don’t. Help us to understand that the power of prayer is not dependant on how we feel, just as the efficacy of worship is not dependant on whether we “get something out of it” or not. Forgive us, O Lord, for believing everything is about us. Forgive us, we pray, when we allow our foibles to limit our worship and praise of You. May we always understand that it is in giving, even when we don’t want to give or feel like giving, that we receive. We come to you now with prayers of supplication and thanksgiving because You are our God and we honor You with our prayers and give You our praise. In Jesus name, AMEN.

Please pray for Richard Cook, Bob Park’s son-in-law. He had major surgery a couple of weeks ago. Now there are complications and he will have additional surgery today.

Please pray for our church. Let all of us look beyond our individual needs to embrace the greater good. We are the Body of Christ and the world is watching us, our children are watching us, visitors are watching us. May we embody the spirit of God’s love for all.

The NW Area Men’s meeting is tonight at Central. There will be plenty of food. Please try to attend….spouses are welcome.

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
