Prayer for Today, Sunday, December 19

Dear Lord of All,

We celebrate life and love, knowing that You are the author and sustainer of all of that which blesses us. Pour our You Spirit this day, that we might be bold in our celebration of the birth of Christ. It is in His name we pray, AMEN.

Advent Devotion for Today. Please read Isaiah 7:10-14:
In the world we live in nowadays, people always seem to be focusing on what’s coming next. We find ourselves asking God for what we want and not exactly what we need. Just as kids make out their long Christmas lists, and the best items are chosen to give to them, God does the same for our prayer requests. It’s hard to understand that God wants us to know that he will choose what is best for us. He wants us to talk to Him and not to be afraid to ask for what we need. Don’t wait for God’s huge neon sign to give you the permission to ask and receive; He already gave that many years ago with the birth of his own son Jesus.
