Prayer for Today, Monday, February 7

God of Freedom, God of Justice,

We take so many things for granted, including our many options to live full and complete lives. Forgive us, Dear Lord, when we fail to live up to our potential. Forgive us, loving God, when we take the easy road and settle for less: in our relationships, in our service to others, in our devotion to You. May our hearts be open to Your forgiving and transforming Spirit today and may we embrace the possibilities that are before us. In Jesus name we pray, AMEN.

Another week is here. May we find ways to serve God and others.

We had a successful Boy Scout Sunday yesterday with good attendance in all the morning services.

Tonight is the fourth session of Financial Peace University at 6:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room.

More snow is forecast for Tuesday evening and Wednesday. Watch this daily email and/or call the church office to see if there are any cancellations, assuming we receive the weather the forecasters predict.

The scripture for Today is Matthew 10:34-39:
“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one’s foes will be members of one’s own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
