Prayer for Today, Thursday, February 3

Dear Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer,

We rejoice in this day because it is a day You have made. In Proverbs we are told to be attentive to Your words. We seek, O Lord, to keep them within our hearts. As we ponder the words of faith, may Your Spirit give life and healing. In Jesus name we pray, AMEN.

Delcea Batterman is having carpal tunnel surgery this morning. We pray for a successful surgery and healing for Delcea.

Ron Maphet is in the Bass Pavilion and will be there for a couple of weeks. Joan Petersen has been moved to the 5th floor at St. Mary’s. Please pray for Ron and Joan.

Brad Kroeker called yesterday to say a good friend and her fiancĂ© had a fire in their home and they lost everything except the clothes on their backs. Her hands were burned as well. Please pray for this young couple. I don’t know any of the details regarding clothing sizes or specific needs, but we can respond with a love offering. If you would like to help, please bring a check to the church and note “fire victims”. We have a little money left from the last appeal. We will use that and whatever comes in to get them a Wal-Mart gift card.

The R & R group is having a “covered dish” planning meeting this evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. If you are a regular at the R & R service you are encouraged to attend. Bring a food item to share. We will talk about future plans as well as making arrangements for a R & R Celebration and Thank-You Event for the entire congregation.

Lynn Unruh’s funeral is tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary.

Tomorrow evening the CACS and Civitan Club will sponsor a Valentine Dance. Everyone is invited to attend.

We will find out today if the Leadership School scheduled for this Saturday in OKC is still on or if it has been postponed.

The scripture for today is Exodus 8:1-10:
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the LORD: Let my people go, so that they may worship me. If you refuse to let them go, I will plague your whole country with frogs. The river shall swarm with frogs; they shall come up into your palace, into your bedchamber and your bed, and into the houses of your officials and of your people, and into your ovens and your kneading bowls. The frogs shall come up on you and on your people and on all your officials.’“ And the LORD said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers, the canals, and the pools, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt.’“ So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. But the magicians did the same by their secret arts, and brought frogs up on the land of Egypt. Then Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron, and said, “Pray to the LORD to take away the frogs from me and my people, and I will let the people go to sacrifice to the LORD.” Moses said to Pharaoh, “Kindly tell me when I am to pray for you and for your officials and for your people, that the frogs may be removed from you and your houses and be left only in the Nile.” And he said, “Tomorrow.” Moses said, “As you say! So that you may know that there is no one like the LORD our God,
Grace and peace,

John McLemore
