Prayer for Today, Tuesday, February 8

O God,

You are our hiding place. When the trials of life seem overwhelming, we find comfort and rest for our souls in You. Thank You, God. May we find ways, today and every day, to bring You our praise. In Jesus name we pray, AMEN.

Grant Harris, another one of our beloved, died yesterday. The arrangements are being made through Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. I will share the details when they become available. His funeral will likely be Friday or Saturday.

Another storm is on the way. The meeting of Agape, one of the CWF groups scheduled for this evening, has been canceled. The adult Chancel Bell Choir rehearsal for Wednesday evening has been canceled. I am still undecided about other WWNF activities. Watch tomorrow’s email or call the church office tomorrow to check the status of Wednesday evening activities AND the status of the Sooner’s Party on Thursday evening.

Michael Davidson, Associate Regional Minister for Children, Youth and Young Adults, has put together a six minute video about those Regional ministries. A number of our members are shown in the video. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/ccokdoc#p/u/1/R_GB0-FKz5Q .

The scripture for today is Matthew 10:40-42:
“Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward; and whoever welcomes a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward of the righteous; and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.”

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
