Prayer for Today, Wednesday, March 16

Benevolent Creator God,

We pray that our words and meditations are acceptable to You, O Lord. Yet we know that many times they are not. We sometimes choose to be judgmental, condescending, “holier than thou” people. We celebrate Your forgiveness when it is offered to us, but we fail to appreciate Your forgiveness when it is offered to others. Forgive us, we pray. During this Lenten season may we seek to right the wrongs of our daily living and live in the light of Your grace for ourselves and for others. In Jesus name, AMEN.

Connie Koegel has been dismissed from the hospital and is now home. Please pray for her recovery.

Charlie Heller had an angioplasty procedure at 11:00 p.m. on Monday. When I saw him yesterday in the OKC Heart Hospital he was waiting to talk to Dr. Randolph to see if surgery is required. I have not yet heard any results. Judi missed her dialysis treatment on Monday because of what was happening with Charlie. Friends brought her back to Enid yesterday for dialysis and then took her back to OKC. They have made arrangements for her to continue treatments, if the need exists, in OKC. Please pray for both Charlie and Judi.

Tonight is Wonderful Wednesday Night Fellowship.

Tomorrow we will have 16 men going to the NW Area Men’s Meeting in Hennessey. We will leave the church around 5:30 p.m.

The scripture reading for today is Deuteronomy 18:15-22:
The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you shall heed such a prophet. This is what you requested of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said: “If I hear the voice of the LORD my God any more, or ever again see this great fire, I will die.” Then the LORD replied to me: “They are right in what they have said. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their own people; I will put my words in the mouth of the prophet, who shall speak to them everything that I command. Anyone who does not heed the words that the prophet shall speak in my name, I myself will hold accountable. But any prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, or who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded the prophet to speak—that prophet shall die.” You may say to yourself, “How can we recognize a word that the LORD has not spoken?” If a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD but the thing does not take place or prove true, it is a word that the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; do not be frightened by it.

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
