Prayer for Today, Friday, May 13

O Divine Mercy,

We live in a world that places so much emphasis on cures and much less emphasis on healing. We thank You, Loving God, for the amazing advances in medicine and the wonderful gifts shared by physicians that allow us to be cured of so many diseases and maladies. We pray also for healing, healing of body, but also mind and spirit. You are the source of true healing. May Your Spirit flow through us and bring us to an understand that we must depend on You. Attune our minds and spirits to Your grace and ever-present love. We pray for wholeness, physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally, for ourselves and those near to us. Bring healing, O Lord. We pray in the name of the Healer from Nazareth. AMEN.

Please pray for cures and healing for our sick and hospitalized.

Senior Sunday is upon us. Please pray for our high school graduates. They will process and be recognized at the 10:15 a.m. traditional service and then move to the Revive and Renew service to hear Austin Hula and Zach Jones speak to them. It will be a great day. Sorry I will miss it.

I am doing fine. I looked at the schedule again. It won’t be until Wednesday when I go back to the plastic surgeon and, hopefully, return to normal outside activity. I am getting a lot of reading done, however.

The scripture for today is 2 Samuel 23:1-7:
Now these are the last words of David: The oracle of David, son of Jesse, the oracle of the man whom God exalted, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the favorite of the Strong One of Israel: The spirit of the LORD speaks through me, his word is upon my tongue. The God of Israel has spoken, the Rock of Israel has said to me: One who rules over people justly, ruling in the fear of God, is like the light of morning, like the sun rising on a cloudless morning, gleaming from the rain on the grassy land. Is not my house like this with God? For he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. Will he not cause to prosper all my help and my desire? But the godless are all like thorns that are thrown away; for they cannot be picked up with the hand; to touch them one uses an iron bar or the shaft of a spear. And they are entirely consumed in fire on the spot.

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
