God of Peace,
You have planted within us the seeds of faith, hope and love. They have been watered and fed by those who love us, the church, and the presence of Your Spirit. For many they have matured and produced the fruits of compassion, faithfulness and service to others. Forgive us, O Lord, when we allow the weeds of personal and professional busyness to choke them out. Help us to tend to our garden, O God. Help us to celebrate true Sabbath, finding time for rest and renewal, weeding out that which limits our ability to follow Your call. We are blessed, Dear God. May we be a blessing to others in Christ’s name. AMEN.

Sunday is Mother’s Day. Join us as we celebrate our mothers.
I misspoke yesterday. Birdene Schoonover is celebrating her 97th birthday. She is to be released from the hospital today.
The scripture for today is Matthew 21:28-32:
“What do you think? A man had two sons; he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today. ‘He answered, ‘I will not’; but later he changed his mind and went. The father went to the second and said the same; and he answered, ‘I go, sir’; but he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are going into the kingdom of God ahead of you.For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him; and even after you saw it, you did not change your minds and believe him.
Grace and peace,
John McLemore
