Prayer for Today, Sunday, June 26

God Who Blesses and Loves,

You offer us lives filled with hope and joy, beauty and grandeur, knowledge and mystery. We sing to You our songs of grateful praise. May every ounce of our being bring honor to You. There are so many times when we turn away, and yet You seek always to draw us back. There are so many times when we dishonor You by our mean, selfish actions, and yet You extend to us Your love and grace. May we live as those who follow Jesus. May our hearts be opened to Your grace and our lives transformed by Your love and may the evidence of our love for You be seen as we share that love with others. In Jesus name we pray, AMEN.

I received the following email from Patty Melott:
Dear Reverend McLemore, Larry's dad is in ICU at St. Mary's and not expected to go home. We don't think he will make it through the weekend. Please pray for him. We want to Thank Everyone for the continued Prayers while we have been sitting with Larry's mom and dad. It has been a continuous job but one we have accepted with God's graces. Larry's mom has extreme Alzheimer’s and when Dad goes we do not expect his mom to linger too long after. They have been married 69 years and lived for each other. Thank You again and keep us in your Prayers. Your brother and sister in Christ, Larry and Patty Melott

Please pray for the Melott family.

Please pray for those victims of the floods and fires.

The Elders meet this evening at 5:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

The scripture for today is Matthew 27:1-2:
When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people conferred together against Jesus in order to bring about his death. They bound him, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate the governor.

The Psalm for this week is Psalm 26:
Vindicate me, O LORD, for I have walked in my integrity, and I have trusted in the LORD without wavering.
Prove me, O LORD, and try me; test my heart and mind.
For your steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in faithfulness to you.
I do not sit with the worthless, nor do I consort with hypocrites;
I hate the company of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.
I wash my hands in innocence, and go around your altar, O LORD,
singing aloud a song of thanksgiving, and telling all your wondrous deeds.
O LORD, I love the house in which you dwell, and the place where your glory abides.
Do not sweep me away with sinners, nor my life with the bloodthirsty,
those in whose hands are evil devices, and whose right hands are full of bribes.
But as for me, I walk in my integrity; redeem me, and be gracious to me.
My foot stands on level ground; in the great congregation I will bless the LORD.

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
