Prayer for Today, Saturday, July 30

Wonderful God,

You are present to us in so many ways, particularly are You experienced in the depth and breadth of human relationships. We all are created in Your image. When we look into the face of a relative, friend, neighbor, and even a stranger, we see Your reflection. Forgive us, O Lord, when we look past and through some of those around us. Forgive us, Loving God, when we act as if certain others have no significance. Our arrogance and aloofness condemns us. Open our eyes, Creator God, so that we might see. Open our hearts that we might care. Open our spirits that we might compassionately engage. For it is in Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.

This morning we will honor and bury Novella Weber. Please pray for her son, Gary, and his family.

Wednesday family and friends will gather at 2:00 p.m. to honor the life and faith of Nieva Munkres at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Tim Simpson, Sue McClendon and Elbert Wheeler are all still hospitalized at St. Mary’s hospital. Please pray for each of them.

Tomorrow, during Sunday School at 9:00 a.m., I will teach the second and last session of Disciples 101 (revised) in the Multi-Purpose Room. The Boomer Class is participating and bringing food. A good time will be had by all.

VBS “Shake It Up” begins with a meal at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. There will even be a class for adults. All are invited.

The scripture for today is Romans 11:33-36:
O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!“For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?”“Or who has given a gift to him, to receive a gift in return?”For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
