O Divine Presence,
We humbly come before You seeking Your blessing. A new day filled with possibilities lies before us. May we use our time wisely, O Lord. May we be surprised by Your Spirit in unexpected places. Open our eyes, we pray, so that we might see and embrace the beauty, the love, and the opportunities for service which are all about us. Help us, Dear God, to be a blessing to someone else this day. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.
I received word that Gene Mason was readmitted to St. Mary’s hospital yesterday morning and is not doing well. Please pray for Gene.
Merle Phillips is having surgery at St. Mary’s tomorrow. Please hold Merle in your thoughts and prayers.
We also lift up Ruby Manahan in our prayers as she is recovering from hip surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital.
I received the following email from Wally Turner:
Hi John, I am in Kansas City as my Mother fell and broke her hip. She has been in ICU for the past couple of days but was moved to a regular room late yesterday afternoon. Her name is Helen Hankins and she needs some extra prayers to move forward and into rehab and get well as soon as possible. She is almost 91. Wally Turner
Special thanks to Carolyn McLemore and all those who planned and took part in our “9/11 Prayer Vigil”. It was a moving and special service.
ATTENTION DSISCIPLES MEN! The NW Area Men will meet in Carmen this Thursday evening for a men’s gathering. We will take the church bus. PLEASE CALL KANDY BY NOON TOMORROW (TUESDAY) SO WE CAN CALL IN A NUMBER. I know the Men’s Walk to Emmaus begins Thursday evening and a number of our regulars will not be able to attend. Let’s encourage some new participants. The food is always good and the fellowship is wonderful, plus this is the first time in a long time that Carmen is serving as host. PLAN TO ATTEND.
The scripture for today is Jude 1:3-4:
Beloved, while eagerly preparing to write to you about the salvation we share, I find it necessary to write and appeal to you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. For certain intruders have stolen in among you, people who long ago were designated for this condemnation as ungodly, who pervert the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Grace and peace,
John McLemore
