Prayer for Today, Saturday, September 10

Inexhaustible God,

You search for us when we are lost. You seek us when we are alone. Even when we try to hide from You, You are there offering comfort and consolation. When we feel undeserving, when we feel isolated, when we are absorbed in our troubles. . .You are still there. Today, O Lord, we confess all that we are before You: our joys and sorrows, our victories and defeats, our faith and our doubt, our pride and our shame. We pray You will cleanse us with Your grace filled spirit. May our hearts accept and rejoice in Your love. May Your peace be in our hearts. This is our prayer in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Terry Jones is dealing with some major health issues. Please pray for Terry as he continues to go through tests.

Davida Whitsitt and Paul Spratt are still hospitalized. Ila Crain is recovering at home. Merle Phillips will have surgery this Tuesday. Tim McAnally is also scheduled for surgery. Please pray for them all.

Today there are a number of activities at the church including a cadre of members who will be cleaning and reorganizing storage areas. They will start at 9:00 a.m. and work into the early afternoon. All are welcome to come and help.

Tomorrow we will have regular morning services. The Executive Committee will meet briefly immediately after the 10:15 services in my office. The introduction to Financial Peace university will take place in the Video Room at 3:00 p.m. The Elders will meet at 5:15 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. And we will host the “9/11 Prayer Vigil” for the community at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. It will be a busy and productive day.

The scripture for today is Ephesians 6:21-23:

So that you also may know how I am and what I am doing, Tychicus will tell you everything. He is a dear brother and a faithful minister in the Lord. I am sending him to you for this very purpose, to let you know how we are, and to encourage your hearts. Peace be to the whole community, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace and peace,

John  McLemore
