God of Holy Love,
It is always a challenge to align our priorities with what we discern to be Your will for us, O Lord. There are so many conflicting voices around us, inviting, encouraging, even seducing us into patterns of acquisition and self-serving. Please forgive us for not following Jesus’ model. May we be concerned about the legacy we are leaving to future generations, particularly in the church. May our focus always be on bringing others into a relationship with Christ, this generation and future generations. May our model for others be one of witness, service and generosity. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.

There is an Elder’s meeting at 11:30 a.m. today as well as a New Members and Friends Luncheon.
The third session of “Does God Exist?” meets this evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
Please pray for our church and the mission and ministry God calls us to be about.
The scripture for today is 2 Timothy 3:1-9:
You must understand this, that in the last days distressing times will come. For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, brutes, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to the outward form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid them! For among them are those who make their way into households and captivate silly women, overwhelmed by their sins and swayed by all kinds of desires, who are always being instructed and can never arrive at a knowledge of the truth. As Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these people, of corrupt mind and counterfeit faith, also oppose the truth. But they will not make much progress, because, as in the case of those two men, their folly will become plain to everyone.
The Psalm for this week is Psalm 119:137-144:
You are righteous, O Lord, and your judgments are right. You have appointed your decrees in righteousness and in all faithfulness. My zeal consumes me because my foes forget your words. Your promise is well tried, and your servant loves it. I am small and despised, yet I do not forget your precepts. Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and your law is the truth. Trouble and anguish have come upon me, but your commandments are my delight. Your decrees are righteous forever; give me understanding that I may live.
