Prayer for Today, Friday, November 4

Merciful God,

Each moment is a gift. Each day can be a blessing. Each new month provides us with new opportunities for love, compassion and caring. Each new year reminds us how quickly time passes. Please forgive us, Creator God, when we waste the moments that are truly gifts. Please forgive us when we fail to use the time available to us, and the gifts You have given us, for service to others and to You. May we constantly seek to be good stewards of our talents, our resources and out time. All are finite. All come as gifts. May all our days be opportunities to honor You in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Yesterday, late afternoon, I saw Jim Walta at the OU Medical Center in OKC. He is in ICU, on a respirator, and in an induced coma. He is scheduled to undergo surgery this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Please continue to pray for Jim and for Peggy Hall.

Please also continue to pray for Birdene Schoonover and Alta Mae Birkenbile.

Terry Jones’ daughter, Tamara, and her boyfriend, Nic, will be married in Terry’s apartment at 11:00 a.m. this morning. Please celebrate with them and pray for Terry.

The saddlebags are ready. The Extravagant Generosity Pony Express mailing to those who are not on saddlebag routes goes out today. Sunday we will have our all-church breakfast and the Pony Express saddlebag distribution will officially begin. Our goal is to have the distribution completed and make an announcement of the outcome on Sunday November 20 – Thanksgiving Sunday.  Please pray for this venture. Pray for your participation and the willingness of all to express their gratitude for God’s extravagant generosity by also being extravagantly generous. Please remember, it is not about dollars and cents. It is about matters of the heart.

Our small prayer chapel is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Please consider making a special effort to come by the church to pray.

The Global Ministries update can be viewed at http://www.globalministries.org/

The scripture for today is Colossians 2:6-7:
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
