Prayer for Today, Saturday, November 12

O Lord our Lord,

Veterans Day has come and gone, but our appreciation and respect for those who have served is never ending. Most of us know brave men and women who have been in harm’s way as a part of their military and patriotic obligations. Many of us know families whose members have made the ultimate sacrifice. We thank You for their courage and devotion. We understand, O Lord, that war brings tears to Your face as Your children seek to destroy one another. We know that Your will is for all creation to live in peace, but the human condition often violates Your will. We do not celebrate war, but we do celebrate and honor those who give their full devotion in time of war and in time of peace. We thank You, Loving God, for all our veterans. We pray constantly for peace. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.

Please continue to pray for the Kroeker and the Jones families who buried loved ones yesterday.

Please offer prayers of celebration and support for Todd and Natalie Garrett who were married yesterday evening.

Tomorrow is Mission Sunday. Be sure to look at the displays in the logia, including the silent auction for Kids Central.

John Wheeler, James Phillips and Kristen Tefft are with 13 of our youth at Fall Fest this weekend. Please pray for the youth and adults that they might have a spiritually uplifting weekend.

On a personal note: I covet your prayers. This last year has been remarkable regarding my prostate cancer as my PSA continued to fall. Now it is on the rise again so Carolyn and I are going back to Baylor in Dallas next Tuesday to see the specialist there. I am told there are a number of new drugs that are receiving very positive reviews. We will see what the doctor’s recommendations will be and then proceed accordingly.

Please pray for our church, our shared vision and the people we are called to serve. See you in church tomorrow.

The scripture for today is Philippians 1:1-2:
Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: 2Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
