O Lord of all of life,
On this special national holiday we lift up our hearts and voices to give thanks to You. We are so blessed. May our blessings benefit those around us and even those we do not know. Today we pray for who must work today: for firemen and police officers; for store employees whose stores are starting Black Friday early; for hospital and medical workers; for those in convenience stores; for those in drug and grocery stores that boast being open 365 days a year; for military personnel; for airline and bus company workers; and for restaurant workers. Forgive us, Loving God, for taking our blessings lightly. May your love and grace abound in our midst. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.

The scripture for today is Philippians 4:8-9:
Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.
Grace and peace,
John McLemore
