Prayer for Today, Tuesday, November 29

O Great God,

In a season of anticipation and hopefulness we are easily caught in the web of consumer temptations, hurried lives and increased stress. Please forgive us, O Lord. May we find a few moments each day for reflection, for meditation, for centering, and for prayer. Please help us, Loving God, to see You all around us. Please help us, Holy One, to experience, again, the awe, wonder, and beauty of Advent and Christmas. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.

Please check out this link. It is a CNN story about one of our former members and Sunday School teachers. It is exceptionally heartwarming:

The scripture for today is Mark 1:12-13:
And the Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. He was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels waited on him.

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
