Prayer for Today, Saturday, January 14

Generous God,

There is fear deep within each of us. We are afraid of the unknown, of change, of the unnamed stranger, of disease, of ageing, of potential disaster. For some the fear is minimal, for others it is overwhelming. Forgive us, Loving One, when we feel we can conquer that lingering sense of foreboding using our will and summoned strength. Forgive us, Creating God, when we look for solutions to our dread outside Your love and grace. You are with us through the storms. You can calm our dismayed hearts. Help us, O Lord, to trust in You, knowing that You are greater than our fear. You are God and You carry us through the darkness into the light. Today, we confess and surrender our fear to You and rely on the strength of Your everlasting arms. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.
