Prayer for Today, Sunday, January 15

Lord of Life,

Each of us, at one point on our journey, has confessed Jesus as Lord. For most, it was a decision and statement made in adolescence. For some the confession was made as an adult. Help us realize our confession of faith and baptism are vitally important and are marker events, but that the faith experience does not begin or end there. We are called to live into our baptism all the days of our lives.  Please forgive us when we minimize our experience of You. Forgive us, we pray, when we believe the confession and baptism are the ultimate and final acts of a faithful life. Please give us strength and courage to seek new understandings and new expressions of our faith each day. May we humble ourselves before You. May Your grace abound, and may our desire to share our faith be upmost. This we pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN.
