Prayer for Today, Thursday, March 1

God of Grace,

We have so much to learn. We are inundated with data each day. May we have the insight to move from data to information and then to wisdom. Forgive us, Loving God, when we reduce our conversations to gossip and innuendo. May we focus less on the sins of others and more on our own shortcomings. Help us to discuss ideas rather than people. May we use the talents, gifts, graces, and intellect, that You have given us, for good and not for ill. May our thoughts influence our actions. May our hearts influence our thoughts. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.

Please pray for Susan Hornberger, our Kids Central director. Her mother passed away this week.

Connie Conrady fell and broke her wrist. Please pray for Connie.

Maribel Moore is having issues with her neck and will be seeing a specialist. Rick Little had knee replacement surgery and is recovering on the third floor at St. Mary's hospital. Please pray for Maribel and Rick.

Sandra Justice has asked for prayers for her granddaughter, Nora Keinath, who is having kidney tests, and for her son-in-law, Wes Keinath, who is having hyper thyroid problems.

We had 16 at our Lenten Prayer Breakfast this morning where Roy Smith shared his testimony. We look forward to next Thursday when Barbara Angle will tell part of her story.

Thom Bushman sent the following email to the Genesis Class: “We had a special request from Janet Jones last Sunday to take on a class project.  Lent is here, Easter is near -- and we thought it would be a great time to have a ‘work-day’ to ‘deep-clean’ the sanctuary. Janet has asked us to work this Friday, March 2nd, from 5:30 to 6:30pm-ish in the sanctuary.  Drop in at home after work, change to your work clothes, and head on down to CCC!!  Afterwards, we will all go out to dinner together for fellowship and fun!!”

This sounds like a great project and lots of fun.

The Regional Men’s Retreat is Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10. Our own Brian Meyer is the keynote speaker for Friday night. Men are encouraged to register for the Friday-Saturday event at www.okdisciples.org. I am going for the Friday evening events. If you would like to join me, the Friday only registration is $20. Please call the church office to RSVP.

I am teaching a four week class for children and youth who want to be baptized this Easter. Our first session is this Saturday at 10 AM. If you have a child or grandchild who would like to be baptized, then please call the church office to let us know.
