God of Grace,
So many events in life beg the question “why?”. We see illness and disease devastate “good” people. We observe the success of many who use unscrupulous means. We are troubled when tragedy strikes the innocent. Sometimes we even question Your goodness in the face of overwhelming grief. Help us to understand, Dear God, that the rain falls on the just and the unjust. Being faithful and seeking to be good does not make us immune from the sorrow, grief, and tribulations of life. Help us also to know, Holy One, that You are bigger than our questions. You are with us throughout the journey, on the mountain tops and in the valleys. Please come to us when we are troubled with Your spirit of peace and comfort so that we can meet each day, whatever the circumstances may be. This is our prayer in Jesus’ name. AMEN.
