Prayer for Today, Wednesday, October 31

God of Grace,
 
On this All Hallows Eve before All Saints Day we pause to give You thanks for all the saints who have gone before us, those upon whose shoulders we stand. We thank You for the great personalities of the faith who have influenced millions. We also thank You for those quiet and non-assuming saints who have directly influenced us as we have moved along the path of life. We thank You for the profound legacy we have received. May we ponder the legacy we are leaving for those who follow. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.

We offer special prayers for the family of Lloyd Franklin who died on October 21st. Graveside services were held on October 23rd.
 
Please pray for Connie Oltmann’s father-in-law, Bill Orban. He is in ICU at St. Mary’s. Connie is watching after his mother-in-law, Jennie Orban, who suffers from dementia.
 
Please lift up Dale Vance, Margaret Lambke, and Sophia Farmer in your prayers. They are hospitalized in Enid. Also pray for Peggy Rountree’s sister, Helen Brown, who is hospitalized in OKC.
 
There are no WWNF activities today because of Halloween.
 
Please keep those Pony Express saddlebags moving.

Please pray for Peggy Rountree’s sister Helen who is hospitalized in Oklahoma City following a massive stroke.
 
Please continue to pray for Dale Vance who is now battling pneumonia.

Lord of Life,
 
Today may our prayers not just be prayers of the lips, may they be prayers of the heart. May Your spirit examine us as we pray for peace, healing and wholeness. May we be found to be sincere. Please forgive us, when we fall short, O Lord and sustain us with a love that knows no bounds. May our desire to serve and honor You come from the depths of our souls. This is our prayer in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

We had a wonderful Sunday and we rejoice.
 
In addition to well attended worship services, the Women’s Walk to Emmaus was a powerful event. Trunk or Treat was well attended and everyone had a lot of fun. Also the Pony Express run has officially begun.
 
Dale Vance now has pneumonia. Please offer special prayers for Dale.

Gracious God,
 
You know us to the very depths of our souls and we are ashamed. There are places within us that we seek to hide from You; places where envy, jealously, enmity, and meanness reside. But You know us, O Lord, and there is more light in You than there is darkness in us. Shine Your light of love and forgiveness into the dark places of our lives. Please forgive us and cleanse us. May we truly be redeemed and become new creations in Christ. This is our prayer in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Please pray for Peggy Rountree’s sister, Helen. She had a major stroke and is in a hospital in south Oklahoma City.
 
Today is a big day at Central. Our Pony Express run begins. We are hosting the Women’s Walk to Emmaus, and Trunk or Treat is this evening at 5:00 p.m.

Lord of Life,
 
Many times our journey takes us to unforeseen forks in the road and we must choose which way to go. Often neither option is what we wished for, yet a decision must be made. Help us to realize You are there with us. May we feel the guidance of Your spirit, and , ultimately, may we trust in You. This is our prayer in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Please continue to pray for the Women’s Walk to Emmaus that our church is hosting. They will conclude tomorrow evening.
 
Tomorrow the Pony Express saddlebags begin their journey through the congregation. Please prayerfully consider the gifts you plan to bring into God’s storehouse in 2013.
 
Trunk or Treat is tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. on the Broadway side of the church. Bring some candy and enjoy the festivities as we host scores of our neighborhood children. There is no “How to Share Your Faith” class or Bell Choir rehearsal.

Most Holy God,
 
We remind ourselves that we are in Your presence, O Lord. We find our strength in You. Your heart comforts our hearts. Your grace sustains us in times of need. We give You thanks in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Sophia Farmer is to remain in the hospital for another week. Please pray for Sophia.
 
Margaret Lambke is in the Bass Pavilion and Dale Vance is in St. Mary’s rehab. Pleased offer special prayers for them.
 
The Women’s Walk to Emmaus is underway in our church. Please pray for the pilgrims and the workers.
 
The Pony Express run begins on Sunday. Please offer special prayers for this  stewardship event.
 
Don’t forget Trunk or Treat is Sunday evening. It will be lots of fun.

Most Gracious God,
 
With all of our hearts we commend our children, both biological and spiritual, to You. Watch over them we pray. Grant us the grace to guide them down the right paths. May our influence be experienced in our Christian actions. May our love encourage them. May our forgiveness give them a glimpse of Your grace. This is our prayer in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Sophia Farmer will be dismissed from the hospital today. Margaret Lambke is now in the Bass Pavilion. Dale Vance is still in St. Mary’s rehab. Please pray for Sophia, Margaret, and Dale.
 
The women’s Walk to Emmaus begins in our church this evening. Please pray for this spiritual retreat.
 
Sunday we will host Trunk or Treat. More candy and pop is needed. If you are able, bring your contribution and put it outside Sally’s office.

Today we give You thanks for all the blessings of life. As we reflect on our circumstance we realize that we are overwhelmed by the gifts and graces that abound. Open our eyes that we might see. Open our hearts, we pray, that we might appreciate. Even when the days are darkest we can feel the embrace of Your everlasting arms and know that we are blessed. We do give You thanks. There are members of our families that need special prayers, O Lord. Sometimes we are so close to a situation that we fail to see the dysfunction. Please pour out Your spirit on those around us. May they make appropriate choices. May Your peace and calm prevail. May Your will be done. This is our prayer in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

I received an email from Sandy Law asking for prayers for a co-worker’s 9 year old daughter who will be having surgery on both eyes this Tuesday. Her name is Nat.

 

Please pray for Connie Oltmann’s mother and father-in-law. They are facing profound health issues.

 

There is a Kids Central clean-up event this morning at 9:00 until Noon. All volunteers will be welcome.

 

Join us for our Kick Off breakfast tomorrow in the fellowship hall in lieu of Sunday School.

Keeper of Our Souls,

 

There is a song in our hearts that originates with You, O Lord. The melody lifts our spirits and sustains us. It connects us to the faithful of the past and to our brothers and sisters in the present. May we sing Your song boldly, even in strange and foreign places. You are our rock, Gracious One. In You we trust. In Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.

Forrest Ridgway had emergency gall bladder surgery yesterday. They are keeping him in St. Mary’s for another day or so.

 

Margaret Lambke is still in ICU. Dale Vance is in rehab. Both are at St. Mary’s. Sophia Farmer is still a patient at Bass.

 

Please pray for our hospitalized members.

 

There is a Civitan dance this evening. It isn’t too late to bring pop and cookies.

 

Tomorrow there will be a Kids Central clean-up day. Come and help us inventory, clean, and throw away trash. We will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until Noon. Childcare will be provided.

 

Don’t forget the Stewardship Breakfast in lieu of Sunday School on Sunday. We will enjoy good food, good fellowship, and a brief program.

Open our eyes that we might see the beauty and wonder of Your creation. Open our eyes, we pray, that we might see Your image in family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers. May we experience Your love as we love others. May we experience Your grace as we forgive others. Bless us, we pray, as we seek to  be faithful in our witness and service. O Divine Presence,

 

Sometimes the path before us is easy to follow. It is straight and we proceed ahead boldly. Sometimes the path is difficult with numerous hazards, twists, and turns. We go forward haltingly and without certainty. May the light of Your grace illumine our way, O Lord. May we celebrate the easy days of our journey and may we be equipped to manage the difficult roads. You are our God. We trust in You and seek after You. This is our prayer in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Margaret Lambke is in ICU at St. Mary’s. Please pray for Margaret.

 

There is a full WWNF schedule this evening as well as a Pastor’s Cabinet meeting at 7:30 p.m.

 

There will be a Kids Central Clean-up Day this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until Noon. Please come and join us as we sort, clean, and inventory items. Child care will be provided.

Hold us close today, O Lord. We need the assurance of Your presence to sustain us. There are times when we feel frail and vulnerable. Help us to trust in You, regardless of life’s circumstances. May Your spirit guide us. May we seek always to serve You. This is our prayer in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

We need more pop and cookies for the Civitan Dance this Friday. Please bring your contributions to the church.
 
Wednesday the Pastor’s Cabinet will meet at 7:30 p.m.
 
There is a Stewardship “Kick Off” Breakfast in lieu of Sunday School this Sunday. We will meet in the fellowship hall to enjoy great food, good fellowship, and a brief program. Please plan to attend.
 
Kids Central is closed. There will be a workday this Saturday, October 20th, in the education wing. We will inventory items to keep and to sell, clean, and throw out trash. We will work from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Youth and adults are welcome. Come and help. The more workers the quicker we will be done. Childcare will be provided.

Most Gracious God,
 
Today we pray for high energy and enthusiasm as we go about the business of faithful living. May Your spirit abound in our midst. May our hearts be open to You and to the needs of those around us. May we be bold in living and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. We give You thanks and seek to honor You with our actions this day. This is our prayer in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Jim Goodness has been released from the hospital. Sophia Farmer and Dale Vance are still patients. Please pray for all three.
 
Toby and Mia Graham, children who have been participating in our children’s program at Central, reported that their aunt Linda died of cancer in Lawton. Please pray for their family.
 
Taran Black, a 13 year old Enid resident, is hospitalized at OU Medical Center in OKC in very serious condition as a result of a motorcycle accident. Please pray for Taran.
 
There is a cabinet meeting this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. It will last 45 minutes. All board officers, fellowship officers and committee chairs are encouraged to attend.
 
We are hosting another Civitan dance this Friday for the developmentally disabled. We are in dire need of more bottles of pop and cookies. Please bring to the church this week.
 
Next Sunday we will have a Kick Off Breakfast for our fall stewardship campaign at 9:00 a.m. in lieu of Sunday School. We will meet in the fellowship hall. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
