O God Our God,
We live in a world that is focused on the present moment. While we live, work, and play in the here and now, there is so much more to human experience. We are defined by the past, our individual and communal history, and all those situations that bring us to today. We also plan and dream for the future. While it is unknown, we find hope in the new possibilities that lie ahead. Forgive us we pray, for being one dimensional. Help us to understand that You, O God, are the with us in the past, through the present and into the future. You hold all time and experience in Your hands. We stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before and we are building a legacy for those who will follow. May our memories of You sustain us. May we experience You in the present, and may we be drawn into the future of Your reign. This we pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

We welcome new and returning members to Central Christian Church. Jerry and Shari Long transferred from a local Methodist Church. Al and Lois Sexton and Kari Smith transferred from the FCC in Norman. WELCOME! WELCOME! WELCOME! It should be noted they are all actively involved in the Boomer Sunday School Class. It is always a matter of connections and relationships.
This Sunday the NW Area is hosting a Deacon Learning Event here at Central. This is a great opportunity to have fellowship with area Disciples and hear a presentation by Dr. John Imbler from Phillips Theological Seminary. Registration and fellowship is at 2:30 in the loggia. Worship and Communion is at 3:00 in the chapel. Dr. Imbler’s class is from 4:00 – 5:30 in the multipurpose room and a meal will be from 5:45 – 6:30 in the fellowship hall. The area is paying for the entire event, but we need RSVP’s. Please call Kandy at 233-1214 if you plan to attend. I know 10 are coming from Cherokee. Let’s have a good turnout from Central. If you are working with the Horn of Plenty Food Drive, then come when you can.
Grace and peace,
John McLemore
