Prayer for Today, Sunday, November 3

Loving God,

We appreciate the story of Zacchaeus because we all have a part of Zacchaeus in us. We want to see Jesus. We are curious about Jesus, but we really don’t expect Jesus to call us by name and transform our lives. We would rather be a fan than on the playing field. Please forgive us, O Lord. May the power of Your spirit move us to an active faith where our priorities are rearranged and our desire is to witness to Your love in word and deed. We thank You for our blessings and we offer this prayer in the name of the One who calls and transforms, Jesus the Christ. AMEN.

Mrs. Floyd (Virginia) Allen, a former member, has passed away. She and Floyd live in Spiro. There will be a service at Ladusau-Evans on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.

Timmy Griffin, son of Martha Lee McNaught, died. He was a resident at the Billings Fairchild Center. There will be a private graveside around Thanksgiving.

Emmy Brown has been dismissed from St. Mary’s hospital. Leo Conrady is in St. Mary’s after surgery to repair a broken hip. Please pray for Emmy and Leo.

Please continue to pray for Larry Rogers, Marcia’s husband, for Kay Allison’s sister, Donna Kunz, for John Stephens.

I received the following email from Sherry Garrett: “ My aunt Betty Shadle died this week, my father’s older sister, and we buried her yesterday with the previous five generations of my family.  Please ask God to take care of her family who are left behind, trying to live without her.  She was the matriarch of our family.  Thanks.------Sherry Garrett”

Please offer prayers for all of Betty’s family.

The CWF Bazaar is NEXT WEEK. All proceeds will go to support missions. This is now an all-church activity. The whole church is invited to bring baked goods by next Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.

Volunteers (men and women) are needed to help with setup on Tuesday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. and then men are encouraged to come on Tuesday evening. Of course volunteers are welcome during the entire event.

Regarding the Bazaar, they have plenty of “2nd chance” items. Thank you to those who have donated, but we have enough.

Because of the work being done for the Bazaar in the fellowship hall and loggia we have CANCELED WWNF next week, no meal, no classes.

Please pray for Ryan Allen and Mitch Zaloudek who were married in the sanctuary last night.

TODAY is our Consecration Sunday when we will dedicate our estimated giving to God through Central Christian Church for 2014. If you have not done so, PLEASE bring your estimate today.

There is an Elder’s meeting tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. in the Parlor. (I misspoke yesterday and said 4:00 p.m.)

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
