Compassionate God,
We humbly come to You in prayer on this Maundy Thursday. We reflect on those events in the Upper Room so long ago. The Gospel of John tells us that Jesus girded his waist with a towel and washed the feet of his disciples. He assumed the role of a lowly servant. Please forgive us, Loving God, when we believe the Christian faith elevates us above others. Please forgive us, we pray, when we look past all of those people who are serving us. The message of Easter is not only a message of eternal life, it is also a message of faithful living. May we be faithful as we honor You and follow Jesus’ example of loving and serving others. It is in Jesus’ name we pray. AMEN.
