Prayer for Today, Sunday, May 5

Compassionate One,

Jesus gave us the model for living in relationship with You and with one another. His witness shows compassion, surrender, and courage to reach beyond the boundaries that the religious understandings of the day created. Please forgive us, Loving God, when we retreat to our church buildings and fail to be the true church of Jesus Christ in the world. Empower us to model his caring. It is in Jesus’ name that we pray. AMEN.
______

Fig Newton is having some complications from his surgery and will be in St. Mary’s a few more days.

Please continue to pray for Sally Keeler, Jane Adams, and Betty Unruh.

Please pray for Lana Ellis and her brothers. She is attempting to get them into a nursing home.

Today our Elders and Deacons serve communion to a number of homebound members and friends. Please pray for those touched by this ministry.

You might want to bring a sweater to the sanctuary today. We converted from heat to cool a week ago Friday and cannot provide heat for the 10:15 sanctuary worship. This unusual “spring” weather has really thrown us a curve.

We have new church t-shirts. See Sally Wheeler to get one.

We have a number of people leaving for the zoo at 11:30 today. May God bless their time together.

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
