Prayer for Today, Sunday, October 27

Gracious God,

 

Today we remember those hearty pioneers who, 120 years ago, bravely came to the Cherokee Strip in September and then in late October established what is today Central Christian Church. A few faithful met in a borrowed tent to have their first service. We stand on their shoulders, O Lord. We thank You for their faith, their courage, and the legacy they handed down. We praise all the saints through the years who have made this a vital and thriving congregation. Help us consider our role today and the legacy we leave for the future. In all things we give You thanks and praise. May Your spirit guide us as we celebrate the past and dream about the future. This is our prayer in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Today we are taking a few moments to celebrate the 120^th Birthday of the church. You are invited to gather in the loggia at 9:45 for music, refreshments, and a few brief comments. There will also be a display of a few items from our past. Of course both worship services will begin at 10:15.

 

Trunk or treat is this afternoon from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Everything will take place in the SW parking lot. It’s not too late to bring candy. Leave it in the church office. Everyone will have a wonderful time.

Tim Giberson had surgery on a carotid artery this week. He is recovering at home. Please pray for Tim.

 

Please pray for our church as members and friends are prayerfully considering their Estimates of Giving for 2014. Next Sunday, November 3^rd, is our Consecration Sunday.

 

The CWF Bazaar is just around the corner. If you are doing crafts at home, please bring them to the church by MONDAY, October 28^th, at 4:00 p.m. Baked goods are to be brought to the church by November 7^th at 4:00 p.m. This is now an all-church activity. There will be sign-up sheets in the Sunday School Classes this morning for volunteers, men and women, to help with setup and during the event.
