Prayer for Today, Thursday, October 31

Most Gracious God,

Today we thank You for the saints of the church, those faithful witnesses who have gone before us. We thank You for the early Christians who bravely entered a hostile and pagan world to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. We thank You for the leaders in the early church who formed the basic doctrines of the faith; for the reformers who allowed the common person an understanding that direct access to You was possible; and for the modern day leaders and theologians who stretch us and open new ways of understanding Your presence in our lives. We also thank You for the unnamed who witnessed, sacrificed, and served, building churches across the land. We stand on their shoulders, O Lord. As we remember, may we also consider our influence on present and future generations of Christians. May we be the saints that others remember. This is our prayer in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

________

Carolyn Huber’s funeral will be tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. The church will provide a meal for her family at 12:30 p.m. Please pray for Carolyn’s family.

Larry Rogers, Marcia’s husband, is still hospitalized at Bass Hospital. Kay Allison’s sister, Donna Kunz, has recently received a difficult cancer diagnosis. Please pray for Larry and Donna.

Please continue to pray for John Stephens at the Bass Pavilion.

Delores Oringderff is recovering at home following back surgery yesterday. Please pray for Delores.

Marjorie Foster is continuing to have health issues. She is at her home with help coming in. Please pray for Marjorie.

The CWF Bazaar is NEXT WEEK. Baked goods are to be brought to the church by November 7th at 4:00 p.m. This is now an all-church activity. Volunteers are needed to help with setup on Tuesday evening, October 5th,  particularly men. We have to move a number of long tables into the loggia, some from upstairs.  Of course volunteers are welcome during the entire event.

Because of the work being done for the Bazaar in the fellowship hall and loggia we have canceled WWNF next week, no meal, no classes.

We have made arrangements for a NEW PICTORIAL DIRECTORY! Lifetouch studios will be at the church December 9-14! Click the link to make your reservation now! https://www.securedata-trans14.com/ap/centralchristianchurch2/index.php?page=10

This Sunday, November 3rd, is our Consecration Sunday when we will dedicate our estimated giving to God through Central Christian Church for 2014. If you have not done so, PLEASE bring your estimate to the office this week or on Sunday.

Grace and peace,

John McLemore
